The month of January started with a spot check on 5 families under Lifecare Children & Women Empowerment Initiative (LCCWEI). LCCWEI team also had visitations with the three schools where the children are enrolled, made contacts with the school’s proprietress and proprietor, and had some bonding time with the children. Within this same month, LCCWEI social workers attended a National conference in Ikeja on women’s rights and advocacy to empower NGOs working to safeguard the rights of widows and abandoned single mothers. LCCWEI successfully filled the annual returns as an NGO to CAC, made the basic payments to the regulatory body as well as renewed the bills at the office space.
The year 2022 started with a spot check program for families under the LCCWEI scholarship program, visiting the homes of the children, assessment on their welfare, and family income status and health on January 17th and 18th. On February 14, the social workers went to their various schools to pay 2nd term school fees for the children. In March, the organization rekindled the CAC certificate processing, submitting the necessary documents with the help of the organization’s lawyer.
Another family visit was done on May 9th. LCCWEI’s social workers conducted general counseling, psycho-social support for the single parents, and financial assistance to Ashwel’s family to aid Her plantain business. On May 16th, the LCCWEI social workers were assigned official emails for proper official communication. On May 18th, a spot check and family mediation meeting was done by LCCWEI to assist Basil’s getting a comfortable one-room self-contained apartment in Ijegun, satellite Town, to accommodate the single mother and Her two children under our school scholarship program.
On June 9, 2022, LCCWEI held a quarterly strategy zoom meeting with the visioner, and plans and reports were given to the lead visioner for effective implementation. On June 14th, the government of Nigeria issued the organization a CAC Certificate for effective operations, per the nation’s directives. On June 20, the organization procured a set of chairs and tables for the LCCWEI office in Lagos. The government released the organization’s TIN number on July 6th, 2022 to support the certificate earlier issued to the organization.
Another on-the-spot check was done on July 13th and a total of 111,000 nairas was paid as SchooI fees for the third term for the five students under the school scholarship program. On the 18th of July, the organization distributed palliative food items to the families under LCCWEI’s scholarship program. Another visit to begin the 1st term of school activities was conducted on September 9. The social workers went to the various schools to strengthen our partnership with the schools and assess the student’s academic performance, which was impressive.
The Child Protection Network (CPN) accepted LCCWEI’s application and registered the organization into the forum, under UNICEF supervision. LCCWEI workers attended the induction ceremony on September 23. The LCCWEI Logos staff got their laptops for effective office documentation and communications on October 17 and by October 23, the LCCWEI office was painted and new fans were installed. The public can now visit the office for counseling services and other assistance.
On November 22, LCCWEI’s workers attended the first Child protection training on how to access funding as an organization. On December 5, LCCWEI had the last 2022 Zoom staff meeting with the organization’s head, Dr. Lucy Evans. The meeting focused on the organization’s activities, new areas of expansion, and the 2023 plans. LCCWEI conducted the last 2022 palliative program on December 23 with the families under the LCCWEI.
