Christmas is a season that most people across the world look forward to having great times with families and loved ones. It is a time of love, thanksgiving, and celebration. After going through all the hustles and bustle from January to December, some people find relief in the Christmas festive. Christmas marks a significant event in Christians’ lives when Jesus Christ came on earth to restore our relationship with God. This is such a great event that deserves a celebration. Unfortunately, some people are unable to join the celebrations due to their socioeconomic status. Lifecare Children and Women Empowerment Initiative (LCCWEI) strive to see that at least we reach some of these people and put a smile on their faces during this season.
For most families in Nigeria, the Christmas season is nothing to be joyful about. This is due to the high cost of living and loss of livelihood means. Some can’t tell where the next meal will emanate from. LCCWEI identified struggling families and donated foodstuff to take them through the festive season. On Christmas eve, LCCWEI distributed food items to three families under the scholarship program. This put a smile on the children as they could find a reason to celebrate with the rest of the world. The Ashwel, Basil, and Adewale families could not hold their tears as they received the kind gesture. The Ashwel family confessed that this gesture was an answer to their silent prayers. They had no hope of eating a plate of rice this Christmas. The Adewale, a Family of 6 whose father disappeared 5 years ago, also had an emotional reaction seeing the food supply from LCCWEI.
Putting a smile on families during hardship brings fulfillment to LCCWEI. The organization believes in all-around welfare for families. Apart from sponsoring all these families’ children, LCCWEI ensures that the parents are also empowered and they can have a meal. We ensure that the children get quality education, healthcare, and protection. With these accomplishments, we are honored as an organization to see that a few homes spent their Christmas smiling. We are looking forward to finishing the year strong and beginning the year 2023.
