Children hold great potential of contributing to a meaningful future of their lives and the community at large. However, their full potential cannot be unleashed without proper motivation, guidance, and empowerment. Someone has to shed light on the path that they can follow to come to a successful end. Organizations such as the United Nations (UN) and multilateral agencies from the education, health, and social welfare sectors have put the effort into schools to model the students’ career paths and general development. Lifecare Children & Women Empowerment Initiative (LCCWEI) has also taken the same agenda to ensure children in marginalized areas are reached and empowered to have a brighter future.
As part of our school Advocacy program to build the youths for the future Generation, LCCWEI social workers engaged the students of PHIDEL college in Isheri Lagos State on October 22, 2021. Over 500 students were present to receive firsthand information on how to choose a profitable career and the benefits of working hard. This is a significant milestone for LCCWEI that marks a progression from the previous visit at Abba Rabba schools on October 13, 2021, where LCCWEI social workers conducted a career talk to top Js sans SS students
There is a need for a joint call for action to empower students, especially in developing countries, and bring to light their future. School advocacy is a vital aspect of building on human capital to improve lives. “Every kid is one caring adult away from being a success story,” Josh Shipp.
