Throughout the existence period of the Lifecare Children & Women Empowerment Initiative (LCCWEI), the organization has strived to make growth progress in terms of laying a firm foundation and increasing the number of children and women under the initiative. The zeal to grow and transform society has seen the organization enroll more children and also partner with other stakeholders for the common goal of helping needy children and women.
On October 4, 2022, LCCWEI was inducted into the Children Protection Network (CPN) initiative under the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) in Nigeria. This is a significant step for LCCWEI toward protecting vulnerable children in society against abuse, molestation, and trafficking. This induction is critical in establishing more partnerships with other like-minded organizations that will facilitate more training sessions and building towards strategic interventions.
In September, LCCWEI conducted routine spot check with the help of the social workers in schools and homes out of school wards, who are under the scholarship programs of the organization. Three homes were visited where their living conditions were assessed. Mild welfare challenges were identified and intervention plans began. Five children were assessed. It was noted that three out of the five children performed exceptionally well. The other two were counseled and a private teaching after-school arrangement was made for them through the school. This is to help them cope with other students since it was discovered that their major weak area was playfulness. All their outstanding school fees was cleared and some books were paid for.
In the last 5 years, LCCWEI has been on School advocacy programs within Ayobo, Ipaja, and Egbeda, covering the entire Alimosho. The organization has been conducting pro-bono training for the children on career choices, leadership skills, dangers of drug abuse, the damaging effects of illicit sex, and signs of negative peer influence, among others.
Beyond these, LCCWEI made tangible interventions in assisting out-of-school vulnerable street children, by giving them scholarships from primary to senior secondary schools. This is the best way to help the immediate society. LCCWEI pledges to do more for every child that receives protection.
