As we pause to look back on 2025, our hearts are filled with gratitude. Not because the journey was easy—but because every step forward reminded us why Lifecare Children & Women Empowerment Initiative (LCCWEI) exists. Each visit, partnership, training, and outreach reaffirmed our commitment to protecting lives, restoring dignity, and empowering communities.
This year was marked by meaningful moments—some small, some bold—but all impactful. Together with partners, volunteers, advocates, and community members, we witnessed transformation in action.
Standing with the Vulnerable, Strengthening Hope
In March, LCCWEI took a bold stand against drug abuse among young people through a school outreach at Ebiere College, Agric Ojo, Lagos. By engaging students in honest conversations about substance abuse and its consequences, we planted seeds of awareness and prevention—because protecting children begins with education.
Our commitment to healing and emotional well-being continued in August when 68 young voices gathered for an unforgettable Fun Friday in Iba Town, in partnership with the Pacesetters Initiative. Through art, counseling, and creative expression, teenagers were given a safe space to recognize trauma and begin their healing journey. It was a powerful reminder that when young people are heard, healing becomes possible.
Championing Child Protection and Family Well-being
In May, we joined hands with Mum to Mum Initiative and Child Protection Network (CPN) Ikeja Division to celebrate the International Day for the Boy Child at Platform Schools, Alimosho. Boys received free training on personal hygiene, mental health, self-esteem, human trafficking awareness, sexuality, and life skills—equipping them to grow into responsible, confident individuals.
Our advocacy for safe families continued in September through a sensitization walk in Alimosho, in partnership with the Lagos State Sexual and Gender-Based Violence Prevention Agency. Together, we raised our voices against family disintegration and gender-based violence, emphasizing that protecting children begins with strengthening the family unit.
That same commitment led us to actively participate in Child Protection Network Lagos State stakeholders’ meetings, where we shared our work, paid our dues, strengthened collaborations, and received vital self-care training facilitated by CEWHIN. These engagements reinforced the importance of sustainability—not only in our programs, but also in the well-being of those doing the work.
Amplifying Voices, Creating Safer Spaces
October was a powerful month of advocacy. LCCWEI was honored to be among the sponsors of CPN Lagos State during the International Day of the Girl Child. Together, we celebrated the strength, resilience, and potential of every girl, reaffirming our collective responsibility to create a world where girls are safe, heard, and empowered to thrive.
Extending Compassion Beyond Borders
In December, our hearts were drawn to Second Chance Orphanage in Ikotun, Lagos, where we paid a courtesy visit to support the inspiring vision of Pastor Austen Okungbowa and Pastor Mrs. Felicia Okungbowa. This visit reminded us that sometimes, showing up is itself an act of love—standing in solidarity with those dedicating their lives to restoring hope for children.
Empowering Women, Transforming Communities
One of the most defining milestones of 2025 was the launch of the Pilot Phase of the Widow Need Intervention Program in June. With hearts full of purpose, we began a journey focused on the economic and emotional empowerment of widows—one widow, one family, one community at a time. This initiative reflects our belief that when women are supported, entire communities are transformed.
Grateful for Every Step Forward
None of these milestones would have been possible without our volunteers, partners, donors, advocates, and community stakeholders. Every collaboration, every conversation, every act of service contributed to the impact we celebrate today.
As we look ahead, we do so encouraged by what we have seen and hopeful for what lies ahead. The work continues—but so does the grace, strength, and unity that carried us through 2025.
Thank you for walking this journey with us. Every step counted. Every win mattered. And together, we are creating lasting change.
