It has been a tremendous year for the Lifecare Children & Women Empowerment Initiative (LCCWEI). We often look back and are in awe of the goodness of God since the beginning of this amazing journey. It’s been a life-transforming journey despite the numerous daily challenges that arise. At the beginning of the year, 2022, we had great expectations of increasing our reach and spreading love to more lives. Through the grace of God and the willingness of the stakeholders, we can attest that there are blessings to count.
Each month had its fair share of activities to ensure there is progress in this journey. The month of October started with social workers meeting at the office in Egbeda, Lagos. The core of the meeting was to schedule for attending weekly meetings with the child protection Network in Lagos. This became necessary due to our endorsement and registration with the organization.
The organization intends to actively collaborate with other partners and grow the network with other NGOs within the state and local operational community in Alimosho Local government Area. Within this period, we attended the state’s end-of-the-month appraisals with the Child Protection Network, giving detailed information to the state on our core activities and areas we need state approval to interact with other agencies within our immediate community.
We had a total spot check on our children and their families well as the schools within our wards. The schools included saint Margret school at Ijegun Sattelite Town, Abba Raaba group of schools Ayobo Ipaja, and Praise International School at close 50 Sattelite Town, Lagos.
The student’s academic performance was assessed. Huge improvement improvements were noted as Adewale Rachael sat for her papers in the just concluded Junior Waec examinations, and was promoted to SS1. Favour Basil, one of our students, is also about to take the state common entrance examinations scheduled in November. The rest of the covered students progressed to the next classes, having attained the required grades for their promotion, as stipulated by their various schools. LCCWEI has maintained a cordial relationship with all the schools under our scholarship partnership program and we are grateful that all the tuition fee needs were met.
During our spot visit, we assessed their home welfare to ensure they are progressing well. Significant improvements were noted as all the families had stable food supplies, clothes, and better shelter. The Ashwel’s family recorded a great improvement in their plantain business, which was so encouraging. Through financial aid, she has grown her business to a stable point, which is a marvelous blessing. All the families were grateful for the organization’s support and we give glory to the Lord.
We strive to be joyful and count every little blessing. With the year 2022 coming to a close, we can attest that the Lord has been with us. We encourage you to be part of this amazing journey even as we plan for the end-of-year events. Shalom
